Ranji Trophy 2019-20: Round 6, Day 4- Round-up

Delhi cruised to a six-wicket victory over Vidarbha in the third session of Day 4 after Man of the Match Nitish Rana scored a quick-fire ton to propel Delhi to a total of 348 runs.

The fourth day in the sixth round of Ranji Trophy 2019-20 culminated with many teams cruising to the victory. Most teams had registered a victory on Day 3 itself and the remaining teams accomplished the task on Day 4.

The encounter between Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh resulted in a draw. However, youngster Sarfaraz Khan hogged the attention by smashing his maiden triple century. In a high-scoring encounter, Sarfaraz ensured that his side post a mammoth total on the board by scoring 301 runs. He weaved his stellar innings around 30 fours and 8 sixes to help Mumbai to gather 688 runs on the board. Fans witnessed a run-scoring spree from both teams as Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai ticked the 600-run total on the scoreboard in their first innings.

Gujarat steered to the win against Punjab in the first session itself by curbing Punjab to a meagre total of 109 runs. The duo of Arzan Nagwaswalla and Chintan Gaja wreaked havoc on Punjab’s batting force as they scalped five and four wickets respectively to guide Gujarat to a 110-run victory and six vital points. Nagwaswalla was picked Man of the Match due to his impressive bowling display.

Meanwhile, the encounter between Nagaland and Bihar was drawn as the former’s batting line-up amassed a mammoth total on the board. Nagaland’s batting attack was steered by Rongsen Jonathan’s brilliant double century. He was also assisted by Stuart Binny (81) and Shrikant Mundhe (94) as Nagaland gathered 444 runs on the board at the completion of Day 4 to steer the match’s result into a draw. The match between Goa and Chandigarh also resulted in a draw after Goa exhibited a strong batting performance on Day 4.

Sumiran Amonkar (64) and Amulya Pandrekar (60) were the top performers for Goa as they steered their side to a total of 253 runs. Chandigarh’s Jagjit Singh was named Man of the Match for his stellar bowling performance. He scalped six wickets in the match.
