Fitness is essential in any sport, and cricket is no exception. In the modern era, there are so many cricketers who are hitting the gym on a regular basis to keep their bodies in shape. In fact, the Indian side even introduced the yo-yo test in 2017 in a bid to improve the fitness standards of Indian cricketers.

Also, the likes of Rahul Tewatia and Varun Chakravarthy could not feature in the limited-overs series for India against England, as they could not match up to the fitness standards that the Indian side had set.

And surely, fitness is an integral part of modern-day cricket. On that note, let us look at the top 5 fittest cricketers in the world currently.

Note: This list includes only those players who are actively playing international cricket

Here we rank the five fittest cricketers in world cricket currently:

5. Marnus Labuschagne

Marnus Labuschagne has become an integral part of the Australian Test team ever since he made his debut against Pakistan in Dubai in 2018. He has hardly had any injuries in his more than five years of international cricket and is an excellent fielder for the Men in Yellow. Most recently, his fielding exploits in the ICC World Cup 2023 match against New Zealand at Dharamsala allowed the Aussies to win by a slim margin of five runs in a high scoring thriller.

The 29-year-old made his ODI debut in 2020 against India, and is now a crucial part of the squad too. Labuschagne has played 47 Tests and 49 ODI matches for Australia. In Tests, he can also be seen fielding around the bat and is known for being chirpy, attempting to distract the batter.

The Australian batter has 33 and 24 catches to his name in Tests and ODIs, respectively apart from valuable innumerable saves in the field. The Queenslander has scored 4007 runs at an average of 52.03 and even taken 13 wickets with his legbreaks in Test cricket, while he has scored 1630 runs in ODI cricket, averaging 37.90 runs per match. Labuschagne has also debuted in T20I cricket for Australia, however he has played only a solitary match in the shortest format so far.
