Rario, India’s first officially licensed player cards platform, keeps expanding its wings by partnering with multiple players and leagues from all over the world. Though everyone on the list is a big name, one that stands out of the lot is that of former South African skipper Faf du Plessis. Though he is not seen much in the international circuit nowadays, he continues to impress his fans with his powerful knocks in the cricket leagues.

Despite having to wait a while to join the national team and play in the shadows of legends like Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, and Hashim Amla, to name a few, the distinctive player set new standards in just half a decade. In the Men's division, Faf du Plessis was awarded the 2019 South Africa Player of the Year. In 2011, he was also recognized as South Africa's Annual Player of the Year.

Rario roped in Faf du Plessis as their brand ambassador on August 23, 2021, and his fans can get their hands on some of his best moments from on the field. The players associated with Rario have some of their finest knocks or a memorable shot available, which the buyers can get from Rario Marketplace.

Here are some of the lesser-known records held by the illustrious Proteas player Faf du Plessis, in international cricket-

  1. First and only South African cricketer, to date, to score a century across formats

Faf du Plessis is a part of the elite list of players who have a century across all formats, i.e. the Tests, ODIs and T20Is. While Chris Gayle was the first ever cricket to achieve the feat in the history of cricket, Du Plessis is the first and only South African player to do so. Du Plessis’ maiden Test ton came in 2012, his maiden ODI ton came in 2014, and he completed the cycle by bagging his maiden T20I ton in 2015.

  1. Most innings before duck- 108

In what may sound as a very unique record, it took 108 innings, overall, across all formats, for Faf du Plessis to get dismissed for a duck. From the start of his international career in 2011, he played 108 innings without getting dismissed for zero. It was late in December 2014 while playing a Test match against the West Indies when Du Plessis was dismissed for a duck for the first time in his career.

  1. First South African player to score a ton in D/N Test

When the world of cricket was getting accustomed to the pink ball in the day-night Test setup, Faf du Plessis was busy rising above the set standards. While playing a D/N Test against Australia in November 2016, Du Plessis became the first ever South African batter to score a ton in a pink-ball game as he remained unbeaten 118*(164) at Adelaide but unfortunately, it came in a losing cause.

  1. Skipper to declare on lowest total

In the above-mentioned D/N Test match against Australia at Adelaide, which was also the final game of the three-match series, Faf du Plessis was the top scorer for his side in the first innings with his magnificent ton, but he also took a bizarre decision when he declared the innings at 259/9 after 76 overs, which made him the captain declare an innings on the lowest total.

  1. Test Hundred on debut

Before Faf du Plessis, 94 cricketers from all around the world had scored a century in their respective debut games. But it should be noted that achieving this feat is not as easy as it seems to be. It was the year 2012, when Du Plessis played his first Test game, that too against the mighty Australians. Scoring a half-century in the first innings, he continued his momentum and went on to smash an unbeaten ton, scoring 110* off 376 deliveries in the fourth innings which helped South Africa survive a loss as the game ended in a draw.

Rario, being one of its kind, has allowed fans to get their hands on their favourite officially licensed player cards capturing several classic cricketing moments. By collecting various player cards, the fans enjoy the feeling of being closer to their favourite game, which has been made possible by only Rario.
