The ‘hum fit to India fit’ campaign has been gaining a lot of traction in India with the sports minister challenging cricketers and other athletes. It soon went viral as the Indian skipper Virat Kohli challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his wife Anushka Sharma and it entered Bollywood. Since then politicians, sportsperson as well as celebrities have been posting videos on social media using the #tag and nominating others to take it up.

Indian pacer Siddarth Kaul also posted his fitness video and further challenged his teammate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rashid Khan. The Afghanistan spinner who is extremely agile on the field has maintained a top level of fitness given he plays cricket around the world and all through the year. He is young, energetic and extremely committed.

Rashid posted a video of his workout and the caption tells us a lot about how he has shaped his character. He also took the ‘hum fit to India fit’ campaign global using a #hum fit to world fit’. In his tweet, the Afghan wrote- “The pain you feel today ,will be the Strength you feel tomorrow.” Also adding that “Fitness key to success.”

Here’s the video:

Just today, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi lauded the young spinner from Afghanistan and his performance in the IPL as well. He said, “Bowler Rashid Khan performed exceedingly well in the IPL earlier this year.”

Rashid was retained by SRH and he gave the team his all. He took 21 wickets in 17 matches and was the main weapon for skipper Kane Williamson. In the last couple of years, wrist spin has been the big thing and the Afghan bowler has made the most of the fact that very few batsmen pick his variations.

He is an extremely versatile leg-spinner and keeps varying his grip to keep the batsmen guessing. Rashid also featured in the Afghanistan side for the historic Test match against India earlier this month. He had a tough game but will certainly prove a huge learning curve in his career.
