Rashid Khan is constantly making the headlines with his impressive performances with the ball. He is currently Down Under in Australia playing the Big Bash League. Over the last 24 months, he has been in stupendous form. The Afghanistan leg-spinner has taken the Big Bash by storm in his maiden season, finishing the league phase as the joint-top wicket-taker with 17 scalps to his name, alongside Dwayne Bravo. With an economy rate of just 5.52, Rashid helped the Strikers to a last-four meeting with Melbourne Renegades on Friday.

The 19-year-old however, made the headlines after he was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping ₹9 crores. Some impressive performances prompted SRH to splash out some big bucks on him. After an intense bidding war, it was an absolute no-brainer that SRH would use their RTM card for him. He was brought by them last year for ₹4 crores. Further, with this auction, Rashid is a millionaire now with about $1.4 million in his account.

The Strikers to feast on Rashid’s IPL pay cheque

Rashid Khan will see his hefty IPL auction pay cheque eaten into this week if his Adelaide Strikers team-mates have their way. The young leg-spinner is under some pressure now after making it big. The entire team is anticipating Rashid Khan to throw a grand party celebrating his IPL pick.

Australian pacer Peter Siddle is very confident about the Dinner Party. “He’s taking everyone out for dinner this week,” Siddle said. “We’re looking forward to that – I think the boys aren’t going to eat for a couple of days, then load up on Rash,” he added. Siddle also commended Rashid’s efforts and hard work. “But it was amazing for him, from his background and how hard he works to perfect his game and to make cricket a living, not just for him but looking after his family back home,” he said.

Siddle added that Rashid was very nervous at the time of the auction. He said Rashid should feel much better now as the auction is done and he earned some big bucks. He also made a point that Rashid would be much happier if he can see his team through in the match on Friday.

“I spoke to him this morning, he was very nervous over the weekend with the wait. But he’s very excited now that it’s over and done with. I think a lot of boys get nervous about the auction, but it’s finally out of the way. He’s got his team, he’s got the bid that went very well for him so he’s a very happy man. But he did say he’ll be a lot happier if he gets the win on Friday night. So that’s good to see that he’s still thinking of the Adelaide boys.”
