The Indian Premier League (IPL), also known as the ‘run feast for batsmen’, is all set to begin from the 29th of March and every participating teams’ preparations are in full flow. And, one thing that every squad looks to get sorted before the start of the tournament is their middle and lower-middle order or the so-called finishers.

They might be regarded as the players, who just come and swing their bats with brute strength to get the ball over the boundary rope, but that role does require skills. On paper, things might look good for the player, but it is the mind-set while batting at the end of the innings that matters the most.

The individuals assigned this role have the responsibility to play to their full potential in the handful of deliveries they are given to play and boost their teams’ total. And, every teams’ management wants to place the best of their hitters in this role. The finishers in the many matches prove to be crucial factors while deciding the match’s result and also the team that wins the trophy at the end.

Hence here’s a look at the ratings of every team according to the quality of finishers they have in their squad this time:

The team from Hyderabad, for the 2020 season has managed to get together a talent pool that is enough to decimate any bowling attack that they play against. With a solid core at the top, assisted by a sturdy and sensible middle-order and followed by a series of big-hitting batsmen, they have a line-up that any team would drool on.

But, everything is not perfect for them. The problem at hand for the management will be to sort out the number of foreign players that will be playing for them. They will have to make sure that the four foreigners they include in the XI are a good blend of players. With Williamson being the captain of the side, his place is fixed. There will be only three spots left, out of which two will in all probabilities be taken up by overseas openers&#8211; Jonny Bairstow and David Warner.

Now, the management will have to make a choice between the two Afghanistan spin bowling all-rounders, Mohammad Nabi and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/rashid-khan-keeps-his-expensive-car-in-auction-to-raise-funds-for-bushfire-victims/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rashid Khan</a>. Both of them have similar utilities, but a completely different style of playing. And, most importantly both of them will have completely different impacts with their bats in the hand. So, it will be interesting who is picked among the two and is designated to provide the final boost to their team’s total.

The team from Rajasthan, have been trying to end the trophy drought that has hit them, right after the first season. They won the inaugural season of the IPL, but have not been able to replicate their performance in any of the following seasons. And, in this season too, things don’t look going their way. And in order to lift the cup, riding on the back of their batting unit to chase down, they will need a special performance from the finishers of the team.

The only reliable option in the finishing department they have at this point in time is that of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/vernon-philander-fined-15-of-his-match-fee-for-his-aggressive-send-off-to-jos-buttler/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Jos Buttler</a> (who will open the innings) and Ben Stokes. All of the other players, are either too inexperienced or have age issues creeping upon them, or are straight up not in form and don’t look getting back any time soon. If the Royals want to do anything special in this season, all they can do to improve their bid at this point in time is to organise the talent pool at hand and make them train in the best of way. And with this, they can enable them to score mountains of runs in case of their top order’s failure or capitalise on a good start and get their team past the finish line in every game possible.

A team that has been known to back young talents have gone into a mode of fielding experienced campaigners in their side for the 2020 season of the IPL. With Ajinkya Rahane coming in, along with Ravichandran Ashwin, their team look balanced in all departments. Their batting order has plenty of Indian players, who can fill in for their overseas counterparts and see their side through to big totals.

One of the biggest plusses for them is the inclusion of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/west-indies-drop-shimron-hetmyer-and-evin-lewis-for-sri-lanka-odis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shimron Hetmyer</a> and Ajinkya Rahane into the batting line up. And, in all probabilities, it will be Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, who will be handling these duties for their team.

Both of them have done well for the national team in the recent past, even though Pant, has seen a dip in his scoring rate, he is looking to stage a promising return into the Indian team and carry that form into the Indian Premier League. Iyer has had a great stint with the Indian team in the past year, and has enough experience and form on his side, to help them get past any total that is set for them to chase, or the team aims to put up while batting first.

The two-time champions of the league, the Kolkata Knight Riders, after the initial hiccups, during the initial seasons of the tournament, have morphed into a team that has the capability to defend or chase any total.. Especially their death batting has helped them a lot over the years, transforming into a talent pool that any team in the tournament would like to take a dip into.

Leading the pack of finishers for this season for KKR will be their captain Dinesh Karthik, assisted by the likes of talented youngsters like Nitish Rana and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/harbhajan-singh-picks-shubman-gill-to-open-the-innings-in-new-zealand-test-series/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shubman Gill</a>. And their trump card in crunch situations, Andre Russell is always there to provide an unparalleled boost to their team’s total in the last few overs of their innings. They have had a great set of players in the bottom half of their batting line-up and will be looking forward to capitalising on their abilities to chase down or set big totals in the league.

The only thing that they will have to worry about this season will be the absence of an experienced campaigner like Robin Uthappa who was bought by the Rajasthan Royals. The void that he left in the line-up will have to be filled by a likely talented and experienced player from the 23 players they have at hand this season.

A franchise has been known to flaunt one of the most star-studded line ups every year, but not getting through to the pole position at the end of the tournament. Such has been the story of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They’ve had the best of talents every year but, their show on the field hasn’t been convincing at all. But, this year, they have some positives, and negatives that they need to sort before going in to fight the battle.

The first and the foremost concern that they’ll have to address is that of player management in the lower middle order. With the Aussie opener, Aaron Finch, coming in the captain of the team, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/3-reasons-why-rohit-sharma-should-soon-take-over-odi-captaincy-from-virat-kohli/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Virat Kohli</a> will have to take a call regarding his position as the opener. And, this would then affect the batting position of players like AB de Villiers, who have been batting at particular designated positions over the years for the team.

The second one will be finalising the set of players, who will act as the designated pinch hitter for the side, helping them gather a handful of runs in the far end of the innings. If they are able to address the above listed and a couple of other problems, effectively. The team does have a shot at realising their team slogan of ‘E Sala Cup Namde’.

One of the most followed teams in the IPL coming into the 2020 edition of the tournament is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), with a batting order that might not be the best they’ve had over the years. With most of their players, into the latter part of their careers, the team might not find it that easy to chase big totals, as it did in the yesteryears.

The main reason for this is the absence of a solid set of finishers in the team. The most decorated team of the tournament over the years, with a total of 4 trophies to their name, the Mumbai Indians enter the 13th season of IPL as the strongest contenders to lift the trophy, alongside the Kolkata Knight Riders. They have a great bowling attack with them, and a set of batsmen who can chase or put up every possible total on the board.

The Mumbai team management went all brains in into drafting a squad that is capable of winning matches against any team this season. One of the most followed teams in the IPL coming into the 2020 edition of the tournament is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), with a batting order that might not be the best they’ve had over the years. With most of their players, into the latter part of their careers, the team might not find it that easy to chase big totals, as it did in the yesteryears.
The main reason for this is the absence of a solid set of finishers in the team. One might argue that the team has the likes of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/miss-you-mahi-fans-want-ms-dhoni-back-in-team-after-series-loss-against-new-zealand/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MS Dhoni</a>, Dwayne Bravo and others. But it is not a hidden fact that with age creeping upon them, their minds are writing cheques that their body hasn’t been able to cash. The team till last year enjoyed the unquestionable services of Kedar Jadhav and the likes, but the last 365 days haven’t been exactly great for him and the others in his category.
The line-up once had players, who when once got on the field, left only after their team won the match, has some problems that it would need to sort ahead of the upcoming season. But still, their abilities cannot be doubted and who knows all of them get on their pink of form and sail through tough chases and accumulating runs in the death overs.
<h3>8. Mumbai Indians (9/10)</h3>

The most decorated team of the tournament over the years, with a total of 4 trophies to their name, the Mumbai Indians enter the 13th season of IPL as the strongest contenders to lift the trophy, alongside the Kolkata Knight Riders. They have a great bowling attack with them, and a set of batsmen who can chase or put up every possible total on the board.
The Mumbai team management went all brains in into drafting a squad that is capable of winning matches against any team this season. They have the luxury to enjoy the services of the best batsmen in the business. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/dont-be-jealous-rohit-sharma-tries-to-troll-yuzvendra-chahal-the-leg-spinner-responds/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rohit Sharma</a> their captain, is in great form, Kieron Pollard, the veteran of the ‘MI Paltan’ doesn’t care about form and wins games for the team every day, and the young brigade has to show promising performances in the domestic circuit. So, their finishing department looks more polished than that of any other team in the tournament.
They seemingly have anything sorted out way in advance before the tournament begins and will have to adapt their batting order, only a little bit before the start of some matches, according to the conditions. The only thing that they’ll have to worry about will be to find a like for like replacement for any player if he goes through a rough patch during the tournament.

The Indian Premier League (IPL), also known as the ‘run feast for batsmen’, is all set to begin from the 29th of March and every participating teams’ preparations are in full flow. And, one thing that every squad looks to get sorted before the start of the tournament is their middle and lower-middle order or the so-called finishers.
They might be regarded as the players, who just come and swing their bats with brute strength to get the ball over the boundary rope, but that role does require skills. On paper, things might look good for the player, but it is the mind-set while batting at the end of the innings that matters the most.
The individuals assigned this role have the responsibility to play to their full potential in the handful of deliveries they are given to play and boost their teams’ total. And, every teams’ management wants to place the best of their hitters in this role. The finishers in the many matches prove to be crucial factors while deciding the match’s result and also the team that wins the trophy at the end.
<h3>Hence here’s a look at the ratings of every team according to the quality of finishers they have in their squad this time:</h3>
<h3>1. Sunrisers Hyderabad- 8.5/10</h3>

The team from Hyderabad, for the 2020 season has managed to get together a talent pool that is enough to decimate any bowling attack that they play against. With a solid core at the top, assisted by a sturdy and sensible middle-order and followed by a series of big-hitting batsmen, they have a line-up that any team would drool on.
But, everything is not perfect for them. The problem at hand for the management will be to sort out the number of foreign players that will be playing for them. They will have to make sure that the four foreigners they include in the XI are a good blend of players. With Williamson being the captain of the side, his place is fixed. There will be only three spots left, out of which two will in all probabilities be taken up by overseas openers&#8211; Jonny Bairstow and David Warner.
Now, the management will have to make a choice between the two Afghanistan spin bowling all-rounders, Mohammad Nabi and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/rashid-khan-keeps-his-expensive-car-in-auction-to-raise-funds-for-bushfire-victims/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Rashid Khan</a>. Both of them have similar utilities, but a completely different style of playing. And, most importantly both of them will have completely different impacts with their bats in the hand. So, it will be interesting who is picked among the two and is designated to provide the final boost to their team’s total.

<h3>2. Rajasthan Royals (6/10)</h3>

The team from Rajasthan, have been trying to end the trophy drought that has hit them, right after the first season. They won the inaugural season of the IPL, but have not been able to replicate their performance in any of the following seasons. And, in this season too, things don’t look going their way. And in order to lift the cup, riding on the back of their batting unit to chase down, they will need a special performance from the finishers of the team.
The only reliable option in the finishing department they have at this point in time is that of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/vernon-philander-fined-15-of-his-match-fee-for-his-aggressive-send-off-to-jos-buttler/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Jos Buttler</a> (who will open the innings) and Ben Stokes. All of the other players, are either too inexperienced or have age issues creeping upon them, or are straight up not in form and don’t look getting back any time soon. This fact will have the captain of the team concerned throughout the season.
If the Royals want to do anything special in this season, all they can do to improve their bid at this point in time is to organise the talent pool at hand and make them train in the best of way. And with this, they can enable them to score mountains of runs in case of their top order’s failure or capitalise on a good start and get their team past the finish line in every game possible.

<h3>3. Delhi Capitals (8/10)</h3>

A team that has been known to back young talents have gone into a mode of fielding experienced campaigners in their side for the 2020 season of the IPL. With Ajinkya Rahane coming in, along with Ravichandran Ashwin, their team look balanced in all departments. Their batting order has plenty of Indian players, who can fill in for their overseas counterparts and see their side through to big totals.
One of the biggest plusses for them is the inclusion of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/west-indies-drop-shimron-hetmyer-and-evin-lewis-for-sri-lanka-odis/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shimron Hetmyer</a> and Ajinkya Rahane into the batting line up. These additions would help them get a little more depth in their batting order, giving an ample number of runs for the finishers of the team to capitalise on. And, in all probabilities, it will be Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, who will be handling these duties for their team.
Both of them have done well for the national team in the recent past, even though Pant, has seen a dip in his scoring rate, he is looking to stage a promising return into the Indian team and carry that form into the Indian Premier League. Iyer has had a great stint with the Indian team in the past year, and has enough experience and form on his side, to help them get past any total that is set for them to chase, or the team aims to put up while batting first.

<h3>4. Kings XI Punjab (7/10)</h3>

The ‘lions from Punjab’, on a couple of occasions, have looked too close yet too far from winning the tournament. But, entering into this season of the IPL, their unit looks quite settled, apart from their core of finishers, that is almost completely raw, as the team enters their 13th season without any trophy to their name yet.
The team management this season, placed its bets on the youngsters and uncapped players, to get the finishing duties done for them this season. And, this decision of theirs, as rewarding as it might be, can turn out to be an absolute blunder for them too. If the domestic players, with little or no international experience, are not able to get into the pink of their form, while facing the best bowlers in the world, they might not be able to perform.
The team management and the captain of the team, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/how-ab-de-villiers-helped-in-improving-kl-rahuls-game-as-wicketkeeper-batsman/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">KL Rahul</a>, will be definitely worried over this fact and will be mulling over the decision whom to play in the team and whom to exclude before almost every game of this season. They will have to get their combinations right in each and every encounter if they would want to progress into the latter stages of the league.
<h3>5. Kolkata Knight Riders (8/10)</h3>

The two-time champions of the league, the Kolkata Knight Riders, after the initial hiccups, during the initial seasons of the tournament, have morphed into a team that has the capability to defend or chase any total.. Especially their death batting has helped them a lot over the years, transforming into a talent pool that any team in the tournament would like to take a dip into.
Leading the pack of finishers for this season for KKR will be their captain Dinesh Karthik, assisted by the likes of talented youngsters like Nitish Rana and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/harbhajan-singh-picks-shubman-gill-to-open-the-innings-in-new-zealand-test-series/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Shubman Gill</a>. And their trump card in crunch situations, Andre Russell is always there to provide an unparalleled boost to their team’s total in the last few overs of their innings. They have had a great set of players in the bottom half of their batting line-up and will be looking forward to capitalising on their abilities to chase down or set big totals in the league.
The only thing that they will have to worry about this season will be the absence of an experienced campaigner like Robin Uthappa who was bought by the Rajasthan Royals. The void that he left in the line-up will have to be filled by a likely talented and experienced player from the 23 players they have at hand this season.
<h3>6. Royal Challengers Bangalore (7/10)</h3>

A franchise has been known to flaunt one of the most star-studded line ups every year, but not getting through to the pole position at the end of the tournament. Such has been the story of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. They’ve had the best of talents every year but, their show on the field hasn’t been convincing at all. But, this year, they have some positives, and negatives that they need to sort before going in to fight the battle.
The first and the foremost concern that they’ll have to address is that of player management in the lower middle order. With the Aussie opener, Aaron Finch, coming in the captain of the team, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/3-reasons-why-rohit-sharma-should-soon-take-over-odi-captaincy-from-virat-kohli/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Virat Kohli</a> will have to take a call regarding his position as the opener. And, this would then affect the batting position of players like AB de Villiers, who have been batting at particular designated positions over the years for the team.
The second one will be finalising the set of players, who will act as the designated pinch hitter for the side, helping them gather a handful of runs in the far end of the innings. If they are able to address the above listed and a couple of other problems, effectively. The team does have a shot at realising their team slogan of ‘E Sala Cup Namde’.
