Ravi Ashwin has a special birthday wish for Herschelle Gibbs

Former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs is celebrating his 44th birthday on Friday as the cricketing fraternity is busy wishing him. The brilliant batsman of his era also thanked all his well-wishers on social media after receiving loads of wishes on his special day. Amidst all the happenings, the Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin has wished the Protea player which has attracted all the attention on Twitter.

Recently, both the cricketers were involved in a so-called friendly banter after which the Indian cricketer was trolled and criticised a lot. Gibbs started the conversation and took a dig at Ashwin after he endorsed a new product of Nike. The former cricketer had trolled him for his fielding by saying that he would be able to run faster wearing the new brand of shoes now.

However, it seemed that the tweaker didn’t like the way he was targeted by the South African and gave a savaged reply only to delete it later. Ashwin had accused him of match-fixing, the saga in 1999 which had stunned the cricketing world. Though the allegations over Gibbs were never proved, he avoids travelling to India ever since then to stay away from the possible investigations regarding the same.

Ashwin’s birthday wish

Ravi Ashwin, however, later tried to sum up the matter by posting a ‘sensitive’ tweet and also clarified his stand over the deleted message. Also, he responded to Gibbs by saying that it was a ‘joke’ for him and they would over this event happily some day in future. Also, on his birthday, Ashwin took time out from his busy schedule and wished him. He hoped that the cricketer is having a good day in his hometown. His tweet read, “Many more happy returns of the day to @hershybru , have a good one.”

While few of the Twitter users are still trolling the Indian spinner over his blunder, the gesture from him is surely praiseworthy and it would be interesting to see if Herschelle Gibbs responds to his wish.
