India beat South Africa by an innings and 202 runs in Ranchi on Day-4. It took only 9 minutes and two overs for the bowlers to sweep off the tailenders. The final Test was played in Ranchi, which is also the hometown of MS Dhoni. It was expected that he will attend the match on the opening day but he didn’t arrive.

On Tuesday, when the hosts won the game against the Proteas he was spotted in the dressing room with Virat Kohli and Co. It’s been more than 90 days that he is still due for his first International appearance. Dhoni played his last match against New Zealand in the World Cup semi-final where he scored a half-century but ended on a losing side.

There were rife speculations that he will soon announce his retirement and fans came out on social media in order to ask him to play the upcoming T20 World Cup. After returning from the mega-event, he went on to serve the Indian army.

MS Dhoni visits Team India dressing room

On the occasion of the Ranchi Test, JSCA officials had sent an invite to the former Indian skipper for the final Test. MS Dhoni came late but at the right time when Team India lifted their 3rd consecutive Test series win of the year. Ravi Shastri, the head coach posted a picture on Twitter standing alongside Dhoni after the conclusion of the match.

He took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Great to see a true Indian legend in his den after a fantastic series win #Dhoni #TeamIndia #INDvsSA.

Earlier, Shastri was asked about the future of Indian gloveman. He then recited that everything depends on Dhoni as he has not met him after the World Cup, “Whether he wants to come back, that’s for him to decide. I have not met him after the World Cup. He has to first start playing and let’s see how things go. I don’t think he has started playing after the World Cup. If he is keen, he will definitely let the selectors know,” the Indian head coach said as quoted by India Today.

38-year-old is still one of the quickest glovemen active in the International cricket arena. He also led India to a couple of World Cup wins.
