Team India has been in a sensational form in the recent times. One of the key elements of their success story has been the spin bowling. Talk of spin bowling and the name of Ravichandran Ashwin springs up. Ashwin has been instrumental in helping India win matches. He has spun his web around the oppositions to choke them on almost all occasions in the recent past.

No wonder why he was named as the ICC Cricketer of the Year last year. He has managed to garner a lot of praise from all fronts. Former Australian skipper Steve Waugh joined the long list of well wishers of Ravichandran Ashwin recently. While most people have had a word of praise for Ashwin, Waugh had a hands down comparison lined up.

He went on to name R Ashwin the “Bradman of bowling”. As per the recent quotes in Sports StarLive, the off-spinner from Tamil Nadu was absolutely humbled at the comparison made by Waugh. He noted that the accolade given to him will be hard to live up to. He mentioned that is is an honor to be compared with a legend and that too by another legendary player.

“It’s obviously a great honour when one legend of the game compares you with the best to have ever played the game. Steve Waugh is one captain I have admired over the years, and grew up watching him lead a near-invincible Australian side. He raised the bar for other skippers. This accolade will be hard to live up to but I will strive earnestly to ensure my performance graph is always high,” said the off-spinner.

Ashwin recently became the quickest bowler to scalp 250 Test wickets. He was then referred to as the Bradman of bowling by Steve Waugh. Waugh had remarked that he is doing a phenomenal job for India with the ball. Waugh quoted Ashwin to be a big threat that Australia need to overcome in their upcoming series.

“He is the Bradman of bowling. Ashwin is doing what the Don did with batting. Pretty incredible stuff, and he is a handy batsman too. Ashwin is the player that Australia have to overcome, and then they probably have a chance. His record in India is just phenomenal. “India are very hard to beat in India. They are a settled side and everyone is very confident in their roles,” Waugh had quoted.
