The 10th edition of Indian Premier League has seen two types of extremes with some low scores including the lowest ever getting created and some big scores powered by the big hitters as over 700 sixes were hit during this season, the 3rd most in an IPL season. The tournament has been completed in just 47 days, easily the shortest spanned IPL season so far. Numerous records in the league were created the season with the Mumbai Indians lifting the title for the record 3rd time, the most by any team.

Here we look at all the IPL records created and broken during the season.

2 – Number of centuries in IPL for Hashim Amla in this IPL; both of them came in losing cause. He is the only player with multiple hundreds in losing cause in the IPL.

4 – Rohit Sharma became the first player to be a part of 4 final wins in the IPL and also the first captain to be part of 3 wins.

10 – Number of “caught dismissals” for RPS vs DD and DD vs MI in this season. These are the first instances of all 10 wickets been “caught dismissals” in an IPL innings.

11 – Number of batsmen failing to score a double digit score for RCB vs KKR at Kolkata in this season, the first instance of all the 11 batsmen failing to score in the double digits in an IPL innings.

15 – Balls taken by Sunil Narine for his fifty vs RCB this season; the joint fastest fifty in the IPL. Yusuf Pathan has also scored a 15-ball fifty for KKR vs SRH in 2014.

31 – Number of sixes in Delhi Daredevils vs Gujarat Lions match in this season, the most number of sixes in an IPL game. Previous most: 30 sixes in CSK-RR games in 2010.

42 – Runs scored by Sunil Narine vs Gujarat Lions with all those runs coming in boundaries; the highest individual score in IPL with all runs coming in boundaries. Previous highest was: 36 by Sanath Jayasuriya for MI vs DC in 2008.

49 – Royal Challengers Bangalore’s total of 49/10 vs Kolkata Knight Riders in this season is the lowest total in the IPL. The previous lowest was 58 by RR vs RCB in 2010.

103* – Ben Stokes’ 103* for RPS vs GL in this season is the highest individual score for any player in the IPL batting at No.5 or lower. The previous highest was: David Miller’s 101* for KXIP vs RCB in 2013.

105 – Runs scored by KKR in their first 6 overs vs RCB at Bangalore; the most runs scored by a team in the powerplay overs in an IPL game. The previous most was: 100 runs by CSK vs KXIP in 2014.

126 – David Warner’s 126 in this season vs KKR is the highest individual score for a captain in the IPL. The previous highest was: 119 by Virender Sehwag in 2011 for DD vs DC.

129/8 – Mumbai Indians’ 129/8 in the final is the lowest successfully defended total in an IPL playoff/knockout game. The previous lowest was: 142/7 by CSK vs DC in 2010.

146 – Mumbai Indians’ 146-run margin of victory over Delhi Daredevils in this season is the biggest margin in terms or runs for any team in the IPL. The previous highest was: 144 runs for RCB vs GL in 2016.

164 – Difference between Royal Challengers Bangalore’s consecutive innings totals (213 vs GL & 49 vs KKR) in this IPL; the biggest difference between two consecutive totals for any team. Next two are 157 by KXIP and 148 by DD, both of them came in this season only.

184* – Partnership stand between Chris Lynn and Gautam Gambhir for opening wicket for KKR vs GL in this season, the highest stand for opening wicket in the IPL. Previous highest: 167 by Chris Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan in 2013 for RCB vs PWI.

223/6 – Mumbai Indians’ total of 223/6 vs KXIP in this season is the joint highest total in the IPL for any team while batting second. Rajasthan Royal also scored 223/5 vs CSK in 2010.
