Red Bull Campus Cricket National Finals 2020: Day 3- Round-Up

As the semi and final stage of Red Bull Campus Cricket are kicking in, players of different colleges are putting up their best show to turn heads. The third day of the national final matches saw eight teams locking horns with each other. As the third day came to an end, the tournament got its four semi-finals teams in form of DAV College Jalandhar, SS Jain Subodh College Jaipur, DAVV Indore, and New LJ College Ahmedabad.

The first match of the third day took place between New LJ College Ahmedabad and Loyola College Chennai. In an absolutely high scoring contest, Ahmedabad got the better of Chennai as they won the match by four wickets. While chasing the target of 199 runs, Ahmedabad turned the game in its favour on the back of terrific innings by Ripal Patel (63 of 20). He was adjudged as the player of the match for his master class.

The second match of the day saw action between Jain University Bangalore and DAVV University Indore. After electing to bat first, Indore posted a paltry score of 108/10 on the board but were efficient enough to defend it. They ended Bangalore’s show on 93 runs and grabbed the victory by 15 runs. Pawan Nirwani was named as the player of the match for his knock of 39 runs and, naming two wickets under his belt.

YBN College Ranchi and SS Jain Subodh College Jaipur locked horns for the third event of the day. In yet another high scoring event, Jaipur won the game by six wickets. Ranchi settled for a respectable target of 173 runs, but Jaipur was dominant enough to get the required job done in 18.4 overs only. Sachin Kakodia was named as the player of the match for his unbeaten knock of 63 runs in 26 deliveries.

The final match of the day saw DAV College Jalandhar and SOA University Bhubaneshwar setting the action against each other. It turned out to be a completely one sided affair as Bhubaneshwar got knocked down on just 70 runs. And, Jalandhar didn’t have to call their third batsman to bring them victory as they won the game by 10-wickets. Jasvir Singh was named as the player of the match for his classy knock of 42 of 23.
