It looks like Hardik Pandya’s controversial remarks on talk show Koffee with Karan has not only cost him his respect and regard but also some fortune. Pandya had recently attended the show along with his India teammate KL Rahul and made quite a number of eye-popping comments. His racist and misogynistic comments took this cricket-obsessed nation by storm.
Keeping with the nature of the show, host Karan Johar asked the cricketers about their personal lives. The fans were glued to their television sets to know more about the cricketers’ lives but were left stunned as the minutes passed. While Rahul managed to give fine answers, Pandya revealed the darker side of his flamboyant personality. When probed about their lives off the field Pandya proudly spoke of showing off his many flames to his parents.
At the start of the show, Pandya had also mentioned that he felt ‘West Indian in spirit’. The Baroda star answered a question about he approached women in nightclubs in this way, “I like to watch and observe how they move. I’m a little from the black side so I need to see how they move.” And it did not take long for the Indian mass to take to social media and slam Pandya for his sexist remarks.
Pandya set to lose fortune
In the wake of the heavy criticism, Pandya, on Wednesday, issued an apology. However, the damage has already been done. Now reports suggest that the all-rounder has been dropped from the board of a big endorsement deal for his comments on the chat show. Bollwoodlife.com has revealed that a fitness brand was keen on collaborating with him but it has hit a roadblock following the recent controversy.
Earlier, Hindustan Times quoted a senior BCCI official saying, “This attempt at an apology does in no way bring the issue to closure. This merely shows how lightly he takes the gravely serious issue of respecting women. His conduct was unacceptable. He needs to understand the impact the utterances of an international cricketer has in this country but more importantly, he needs to learn how to differentiate between the right and the wrong. Right now, he seems to merely respond to the outrage and not to his own thought process and conduct.”
