Reports: KL Rahul's rumoured girlfriend Athiya Shetty travelled to England with Team India, stayed in Southampton

The Indian Test Team is currently in England for some important fixtures. Their first assignment in UK was the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton, which ended on June 23. Virat Kohli’s men lost the summit clash by eight wickets and would like to put up a better show in the upcoming five-match series against England, starting from August 4.

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has allowed the wives and other members of players’ families to travel with them to UK. Hence, the players are accompanied by their loved ones in the long tour. Interestingly, KL Rahul’s rumoured girlfriend, Athiya Shetty, also reportedly travelled with Team India to England. It has been a while since the duo are dating allegedly but none of them have confirmed their relationship.

However, their social media activities have often hinted that they are more than just friends. As per a report in Hindustan Times, Rahul listed Athiya’s name as his partner while the BCCI was making arrangements for the tour.

“The couple left India together for England for the World Test Championship last month. Before leaving, the logistics department had asked all players for names of people travelling with each of them. The players were supposed to give the names of whether they would be travelling with wives or partners, for which KL Rahul listed Athiya Shetty as his partner. She travelled in the same bubble and stayed in Southampton with the team,” a source told HT.

Notably, Rahul recently shared a couple of pictures with Athiya’s brother Ahan. This is another indication of the Bollywood actress’ presence in England. As of now, Team India players are spending leisure time with their loved ones with BCCI allowing them to leave the bio-bubble for a while after the WTC final. Connecting the dots, the Punjab Kings opener would be with Athiya in this break.

Meanwhile, Rahul warmed the benches in the crucial encounter against the Kiwis. However, he’s expected to play a more significant role in the upcoming England series. If reports are to be believed, the team management is considering to place Rahul at the number three position with Cheteshwar Pujara being out of form lately.
