MS Dhoni is currently out of action due to a self-imposed sabbatical. After the physically and mentally draining ICC World Cup 2019, where Indian team crashed out in the semi-finals against New Zealand; Dhoni excused himself for two months, spending 15 days serving the Indian Army in Kashmir.

It seems like the selectors have had a word with the former Indian captain about his future in international cricket. With the focus on the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2020, the selectors have seemingly put their eggs in the Rishabh Pant’s basket going forward and there are speculations that Dhoni won’t be considered for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa at home, as he is yet to make himself available for the encounters. With this in mind, Dhoni is set to make alternate plans for his career after cricket and Bollywood seems to be the destination.

MS Dhoni may turn producer in collaboration with friend John Abraham

MS Dhoni’s biopic, which came out in 2016 proved to be a massive hit with the audiences as it portrayed the humble beginnings of a boy from Jharkhand and how he transformed from a railway ticket-collector to the two-time World Cup-winning captain. The rumors also suggest Dhoni may join hands with his friend and Bollywood actor John Abraham for his first project, although there is no official confirmation yet.

“Films have always interested in Dhoni. He is a huge movie buff. When Neeraj Pandey made the biopic on the superstar-cricketer, he got a chance to observe the entertainment industry up close, and he loved it. He was waiting for an opportune time to take the plunge,” a source was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.

As per sources, Dhoni has already zeroed in some projects which he thinks can do wonders and he wishes to produce them in collaboration with media houses in the film industry. With speculations rife with the news of Dhoni winding down his career in cricket, this seems to be a very good move on part of the wicketkeeper-batsman, given his sharp mind and business acumen. However, nothing has been set in concrete and an official announcement is awaited from the man himself.
