Team India, after winning the Asia Cup for the seventh time, will be locking horns against Windies in the two-match Test series. The selectors are yet to name the squad as they are waiting for a few clarifications regarding the key players in the team. Meanwhile, the ace Indian off-spinner Ravi Ashwin has passed the yo-yo test held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

He missed the fifth and final Test against England due to the injury and was reportedly half-fit for the fourth Test in Southampton as well. According to the reports in Hindustan Times, Ashwin underwent a fitness test and cleared it with flying colours. He has been straight away picked in the squad by the selectors along with Ravindra Jadeja as the duo will once again play together for the first time since Afghanistan Test.

What about Australia tour?

Despite the fact that both, Ravi Ashwin and Jadeja, will play in the XI against the Windies, it remains to be seen if both of them will be good enough to make it to the team in Australia. Given the recent performances, Virat Kohli might prefer the left-arm spinner as he played well at the Kia Oval and Ashwin might be benched after he failed in the latter part of the England Test series.

As far as the Test squad for Windies series is concerned, Prithvi Shaw looks set to make his international debut along with KL Rahul at the top of the order. Shikhar Dhawan has been axed and so is Dinesh Karthik as both of them had a disastrous series. Mohammed Siraj has also got a maiden Test call-up after shining in the domestic circuit and the same has been the case with Mayank Agarwal who has been finally rewarded for his consistency.

More or less, this squad is likely to travel to Australia in December with the likes of Ishant Sharma and Hardik Pandya to be added as they’ve now missed out due to injuries.
