Of late, performances in the Indian Premier League has become a metric for the India selections. Recently, when the selectors sat down to select the Indian side for the upcoming Ireland and England tour, players who showed their brilliance in the ongoing tournament were rewarded. Likes of Siddarth Kaul, Ambati Rayudu, and Umesh Yadav were named in the Indian squad for the limited overs series.

Delhi Daredevils wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has shown some tremendous batting form in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Pant is the leading run scorer of the tournament at the moment. However, the left-handed batsman could not make it to the national squad even after performing consistently. The social media was abuzz after the selection, trying to figure out the possible reasons that the left-hander could not make it to the Indian side despite performing consistently for the Delhi-based franchise.

Interestingly, just after the team announcement, Pant smashed a superb ton against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. After the match, few media outlets ran a story that the 20-year old was upset over his emission from the side. Last Saturday, Pant continued his glorious run in the tournament, slamming 34-ball 61 in a losing cause. Fans across the social media platform suggested that he was making a statement through some superb knocks.

However, Pant took to Twitter to clarify the reports which were taking rounds. Pant in the tweet mentioned that whatever was being reported was false and he never said anything like that. He requested people to stop spreading rumours and allow him to concentrate on playing the game.

His Tweet:

Notably, the orange-cap holder Pant might not end the season with the tag as Delhi Daredevils have failed to qualify for the playoffs following their defeat against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore. With just two games left in the tournament for the Delhi side, Delhi-born Pant would love to keep the runs coming and try to keep the orange cap with him.
