India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant appears to be in the form of his life and leaving people stunned every time with his sublime knocks. Pant didn’t have a fruitful 2020 and from thereon, he transformed himself completely. He started grabbing the limelight from India’s tour to Australia and showed up every time when the team needed him the most during the crucial hours. After performing well in Tests and T20Is, he is shining in ODIs too.
In the same reference, former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq feels that Pant is capable enough to surpass the records of greats like Adam Gilchrist and MS Dhoni. Haq reckoned that more than KL Rahul’s innings in the last ODI, it was Pant’s fiery knock that led India to post a huge total in front of Englishmen. Pant’s 77 runs of just 40 balls turned the course of the game and accelerated hosts’ innings like fire towards the end.
“The one who gave India the boost in batting in the lower order was Rishabh Pant, who scored a brilliant 77 off 40 balls. Because of him, India’s run-rate spiked. I have been following him for the last 6-7 months, and the way he is batting and scoring effectively at different positions is amazing,” said Inzamam while taking on his YouTube channel.
Haq heaps praise on Rishabh Pant
The Pakistan cricketer stated that he hasn’t seen any wicketkeeper-batsman playing shots like these apart from Gilchrist and Dhoni in the last 30-35 years. The way they used to change the game in a quick span, Pant seems the same way, stated Inzamam. Due to his recent heroics, the Delhi batsman has garnered a lot of appreciation from all over the world.
“The way he expresses himself and the range of strokes he has, I have seen it only in two wicketkeeper batsmen in the last 30-35 years, MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist. These were the two wicket-keepers who could change a match. The kind of performance Rishabh Pant is giving, if he continues to play in the same manner, he will leave both of them behind, and by quite some distance,” concluded Haq.
