Robin Uthappa to adorn the role of a mentor at 10PL

India batsman Robin Uthappa would be seen adorning a new role altogether at the second edition of the Ten Premier league(10PL). Robin will be the brand ambassador and the mentor for the team to be fielded by Tayyarah.com’s side in the tournament staged to commence from 19th March at the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The event is in its second edition and boasts to be the world’s biggest Tennis Ball cricket tournament with as many as 16 teams participating in the competition.

The tournament apart forms the regular tennis ball cricketers, also features quite a many players from the Sub-continent with the likes of Pakistan paceman Mohammed Asif, Sri Lanka’s Thilan Thushara and Chamara Silva. From India, few Ranji players are known to feature in the event with former Rajasthan Royals‘ pacer Kamran Khan being the only known face.

Uthappa to be present on 21st

The mentor for Team Tayyarah will be seen cheering for his side on 21st March at the designated Stadium. He will be present for the teams both the matches that are scheduled to take place on the same day. Uthappa seemed a happy man while talking about his new venture with the League, “It will be interesting to see cricket in a new form. I am fortunate that I can bring in some of the experience to cheer my squad, albeit from the sidelines. All of us have played tennis ball cricket at some time in our lives in India. So it would be great to relive that experience,” he was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda.

Akram is the Brand ambassador

The tournament after its first successful season is on the expected lines to encounter even greater success this time around. With Wasim Akram being the brand Ambassador of the tournament, more fans can be expected to throng the stadiums at Sharjah to get a sight of the legendary fast bowler. Earlier, Akram even unveiled the jersey, anthem and the trophy of the tournament at the launch event that was held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai Festival City.

The event even saw the declaration of the draws as the 16 teams divided into the groups of four are ready to lock horns for the trophy at stake. The launch was attended by the teams along with several other stakeholders including sponsors and other commercial partners. The tournament boasts the highest prize money for tennis ball cricket anywhere in the world and is valued at a total of 250,000 Dirhams.
