Team India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma might not have got the start he’d hoped for. But the premier batsman in the country eventually managed to turn things around and is currently enjoying a dream run as the captain. The 30-year-old also recently achieved a memorable feat by scoring his 3rd double century in ODI cricket and his second against Sri Lanka. And now, Rohit is on the cusp of breaking another record, which is on the name of Yuvraj Singh.

The dynamic right-hander now needs only 19 more sixes to overtake Yuvraj Singh’s record tally of 74 sixes from 58 games, a record he could break during the three-match T20 series vs Sri Lanka. With Rohit hitting a purple patch in Tests and ODIs, the crowd will be expectant for a big performance from him in the T20Is as well. He has smashed a whopping 56 sixes from 68 T20 matches that he has played for India.

Earlier, in the 2nd ODI, his 3rd double ton came off just 153 balls, which comprised off 13 maximums. It serves as a testament to the fact that he has an innate tendency of hitting sixes on a roll. With Rohit needing 19 sixes, it is very much possible to surpass Yuvraj, considering the rollicking form he is enjoying.

Series details

After a complete dominion in both the Tests and ODI leg of the series, the Men in Blue aim to do an encore of their performance in the ongoing T20 series as well. And quite rightly as they registered a massive 93 runs victory in the T20 opener at Cuttack’s Barabati stadium.

After the culmination of the series against the Islanders, they are supposed to travel for their all important-tour of South Africa. India has never won a Test series in the country, but under the leadership of Kolhi and a new-found confidence, the current team has the capability to turn tables around.

The two teams play the opening Test in Cape Town from January 5.
