The cricketing world was taken aback by the retirement of one of the iconic cricketers of the modern day game. South African veteran AB de Villiers called it quits from all forms of international cricket recently. Not many had expected the decision to come this way but everyone did respect the call. The cricket fraternity showered their good wishes for the post retirement life of the popular cricketer. Veteran Indian cricketer, Rohit Sharma, also had his words reserved for the iconic player.

Rohit Sharma took to micro blogging site Twitter to express his good wishes for de Villiers. In his tweet, Rohit congratulated the former South African skipper for his lovely cricketing career. Also, he wished all the luck to ABD for his life after cricket and hopes that it will be as exciting as it was on the cricket field. Rohit sent out his good wishes to his family as well.

Here is what Rohit Sharma had to say about AB de Villiers:

“Best wishes AB post retirement, hope life is as exciting as your game. Regards to the family @ABdeVilliers17,” Rohit Sharma wrote in his tweet for AB de Villiers.

The news about the retirement of AB de Villiers broke out on May 23, 2018. The cricket fans never expected it to come so soon. AB remarked that it was a very tough decision but he had to take the big call. And he added that his retirement has not come in line with any intentions of playing elsewhere. This came to the fore after the recent outflow of several South African cricketers from international cricket in a bid to play in England with a Kolpak deal.

AB de Villiers noted that he will continue to ply his trade in the domestic cricket in South Africa and is looking forward to the same. In all likelihood, this means that he will continue to feature in the IPL as well. He is one of the most popular cricketers in the world and his services will surely be missed by the fans and the South African cricket.
