The ongoing MCG Test has generated a lot of buzz. The visitors currently hold an edge over the Baggy Greens. While the Australians managed to restrict India to 54/5, they still trail by 346 runs. On this track, a total in excess of 300 is anything but easy. Earlier Jasprit Bumrah and later Pat Cummins provided a perfect example of the uneven bounce on the pitch.
Youngster Rishabh Pant has been quite a chatter box behind the stumps. Hence when he came out to bat, it was Australia’s chance to give it back to him. Tim Paine who has been pretty vocal so far in the series tried to provoke Pant. He ended up asking Pant if he fancies playing for the Hobart Hurricanes having been dropped from the ODI squad for the upcoming series against Australia and New Zealand.
Arnold’s hilarious take on the banter
The verbal banter became even more hilarious when the Aussie skipper went on to ask Pant if he will play the babysitter’s role. Former Sri Lankan cricketer Russel Arnold had a brilliant take of the incident. He asserted that while Paine offered a Hobart contract in the middle, he would be willing to get an IPL contract from the Indian wicketkeeper in a private conversation
Here’s what the commentator had to say on his official Twitter handle, “Am thinking Paine would ask Pant for a Delhi contract in private even though he offered a Hobart contract for the world to hear.”

Tim Paine even had some exchange with Rohit Sharma in the middle. The Mumbai Indians skipper jokingly said that his team will consider Paine if he scores a century here. On a pitch where batsmen are finding it difficult to prolong their stay at the crease, it will be a fantastic achievement. But before that, Australia will look forward to bundle out India soon on the fourth morning.
