Prithvi Shaw made his first-class debut a couple of years ago and ever since his career has only seen an upward trend. Last year, he captained the India U19 team to glory in the World Cup in New Zealand. He also wielded his willow to pretty good effect. Thereafter, the Delhi Daredevils, now Capitals, picked him up to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he scored a couple of half-centuries.

The Young Turk then broke into the India A team and did exceptionally. Shaw was then drafted in to play the two-match Test series against the Windies back in October and he made an immediate impact with a century in the first Test and was showered with accolades from every nook and corner of the cricketing world. Moreover, he also went on to become the Player of the Series.

A determined Prithvi Shaw

Impressed by his performance, the selectors took him for the four-match Test series against Australia, which India won 2-1. Nevertheless, fate had something else in store for the Thane-born. During the warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI at the renowned Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), he twisted his ankle while fielding and later was carried off the park.

To add to his agony, he was also ruled out of the series. In the meantime, Shaw is determined to make a comeback instead of getting the situation to unnerve him. He took to Twitter and uploaded his picture with an MRF band in hand. He captioned the picture and wrote,  ”Aapna time Aayega… Injury Se fit hoke… Mein Aur runs Banayega… Aapna time Aayega…”

Former Indian bowler S Sreesanth was quick to spot the message. He wished Shaw and also went on to mention that the youngster has the potential of coming close to the likes of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. He replied and wrote, ”For sure brother..keep working hard and never ever give up..I am sure if anyone can come close to Sachin Bhai and Virat it’s you..keep at it#apnatimeayega.”
