In the third and the final Test against South Africa, India set the Proteas a target of 241 to chase. Skipper Virat Kohli had no hesitation to bat first after winning the toss. This is also the first time in this series that India got an opportunity to bat first. South Africa won both the two Tests so far after having batted first in the match.

After choosing to bat first, India had a mediocre performance with the bat. Although the total seemed far to less to their liking, it proved out to be a competitive score in the first innings. The bowlers were yet again exceptional with their fabulous performance conceding South Africa only a lead of seven runs. The pitch is proving to be very dangerous now and also the play was stopped earlier today due to this very reason.

Kohli very disappointed with his dismissal

After the top-four batsmen were back in the pavilion without troubling the scorers much, Virat Kohli was surfing against the tide. Virat in the company of Ajinkya Rahane tried to put the Indian innings back on track. Virat started off aggressive and looked to counterattack the bowlers early on. He was sailing along well before he was bowled off a beautiful inswinger delivery from Kagiso Rabada.

A ball that was pitched in the fourth or fifth stump line came back in jagging into the stumps. It came a long way in and Virat Kohli had no answer to what was an absolute peach of a delivery from Rabada. It hit his pads on the way before going on to hit the off-stump. After the ball crashed into the off-stump, Virat Kohli looked absolutely baffled. He didn’t expect the ball to come in that much.

Sunil Gavaskar, who was on-air commentating was quick to put his opinion forward for that delivery. He pointed out that the ball came in like an off-cutter.

Virat Kohli is someone who hates getting out. He is often spotted furious with himself when he gets out. And, it was no different this time around. He was very disappointed with the dismissal which had come just as he was looking good for a big one. There was the customary shake of the head and he looked disappointed as he walked back to the pavilion.

Just as he approached the dressing room, he swayed his bat wildly expressing his letdown. As he did that, there was some slush on the ground that went on to splash the walls and he also hit a ball lying over there in the process. Team Indias’ physiotherapist, Patrick Farhart was seen following him into the dressing room.
