'Sachin- A Billion Dreams' bags two awards at the 11th Tehran International FICTS Festival 2018

The biographical film based on batting legend, Sachin Tendulkar, “Sachin- A Billion Dreams” has bagged two major awards at the 11th Tehran International FICTS Festival 2018. Over a dozen movies were contenders that were curtained during the festival, out of which,”Sachin- A Billion Dreams” emerged victorious to win the titles.

The Honorary Diploma and Festival Trophy for the Best Director of a Long Documentary was adjudged to James Erskine and the Special Award for the Best Film in the Long documentary section went into the hands of Ravi Bhagchandka, who is the producer of the cricketing biography movie.

This film is based on the real-life happenings of the Master Blaster, a great sportsman who contributed every little aspect of his life towards the game. It not only captured Tendulkar’s cricket and personal life in substantial detail but also depicted some of the incidents of his life which were never been heard or known before.

The movie was also screened in several different languages including Hindi, Marathi, English, Tamil and Telugu. The fans and all the other audience absolutely loved and enjoyed the film and it proved to be a successful composition.

It is a humble feeling to receive this award

The 11th Tehran International FICTS Festival was organised from 16th to 18th January 2018 under the surveillance of FICTS in collaboration with the Olympic and Paralympic Committees, the Ministry of Culture, of Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

After bagging the award, Bhagchandka said that his entire team feels very much humbled to receive this title at this international forum. He revealed that it is truly an honour to bring this story in front of people that shows how Sachin was able to fulfil the dreams of billion Indians by winning the cricket World Cup.

“We are humbled that our tribute to the legend of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has received accolades at an international forum. We are glad that the story of Sachin Tendulkar fulfilling the dreams of a billion Indians by winning the cricket World Cup is touching hearts the world over and taking the sport of cricket to new audiences globally. The film will now go to the finale of the festival to be held in Milan, Italy in November 2018,” said Bhagchandka, the producer of the film as quoted by Sportskeeda.

James Erskine, who is the director of the film, stated that it is a great feeling that his work is being admired and appreciated on a global stage. He mentioned that interaction with none other than the great Sachin played an important role in the making of this biographical story. The director also hopes of achieving many more accolades coming forward in his career.

“It is a great honor that my work on telling the story of India’s greatest cricketing legend has been appreciated on a global stage. Scripting his journey for the big screen involved interacting with Sachin, his family, his teammates, as well as players from rival teams and others and I, am happy that the emotions are reaching out to a global audience. We are hopeful of more accolades coming our way as the film travels the festival circuit,” said the director.
