Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar presented India’s Rio Olympic stars PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, Dipa Karmakar and national Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand with BMW cars in Hyderabad. Following the felicitation, a confusion arose among fans whether Sachin gifted the cars himself or was just there to hand them over.

As it turns out the Hyderabad District Badminton Association president Chamundeshwarnath paid for the vehicles and the master blaster was invited just to grace the occasion and make the Olympic champions feel even more special. Badminton star PV Sindhu won a silver medal as she lost her gold medal match to world no.1 Carolina Marin of Spain. Sindhu’s achievement was lauded nation over since this was India’s first silver medal ever in the sport and the way she played her Badminton throughout the tournament definitely deserved a podium finish.

The second medalist for India Sakshi Malik lost her quarter-final bout but since her opponent made it to the final she got another opportunity and had a go at the bronze medal through the repechage and she won all her bouts to win the medal. Dipa Karmakar, on the other hand, impressed one and all on her Olympic debut and just fell short of winning a medal at the Rio Olympics. She finished 4th in the individual vault event. Dipa performed the Produnova which only four gymnasts have successfully attempted.

Sachin, the goodwill ambassador of the Olympics for India applauded their effort and congratulated them for their dedicated efforts in their sport. The presentation was organized at the P. Gopichand Nimmagadda Prasad Badminton Academy in Hyderabad where Sachin handed them over the car keys.
