India’s tour of the United Kingdom (UK) has already begun. However, they will play their opening match versus Ireland in Dublin on June 27. Prior to that, the team would wish to resurrect any chinks in their armour before they take the field. In conditions favourable to seam-bowling, India have selected a few genuine pacers to strengthen their chances of performing to expectations on the tour.

The likes of Umesh Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah are seasoned players and a lot will depend on the trio provided the visitors are to give the Brits a run for their money. The management has also roped in Siddarth Kaul following his impressive show in the Indian Premier League. Indian cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar believes that the current bunch of bowlers is the best India ever has had.

“You have to pick the team accordingly”- Tendulkar

“We have the luxury where we have a swing bowler (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), a tall bowler (Ishant Sharma), a skiddy bowler (Jasprit Bumrah) and a genuine quick bowler (Umesh Yadav). It is a nice combination to have with so much variation on offer.

Yeah, I am taking that into account that (attacks of yesteryears) as well because of a reason. We have got Bhuvi, who can bat and also Hardik with good batting ability,” the Master Blaster was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.

The Mumbaikar also put forth the importance of altering the bowling combination as per the skillet of the opposition batting lineup. “I think the team management would have to assess which opposition batsman is comfortable against what kind of bowling.

There will be a few, who would play the swing bowling well and some will have the technique of dealing with deliveries that move off the pitch. You have to pick the team accordingly,” he added.

Last time around, MS Dhoni and his men won the ODI series but faltered in the Test series after winning the second contest at Lord’s. This time, Virat Kohli is the skipper and the Delhi-born cricketer would want to shed last time’s disappointment and take the field with a zeal to turn their rivals overs.
