Injuries are a part and parcel of a sportsperson’s life. There’s no way one can avoid getting injured while playing sports. Players get injured, spend some time off the game, recover and come back again to perform for their teams. But, some problems choose to stay with you even after your playing days are over.

Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday went under the knife for an old knee problem which re-occurred. The cricketer is currently on a bed rest following the surgery.

Sachin posted a photo of his injured leg on his Facebook page and said that injuries cannot be ignored even after retirement from competitive cricket. He also added that he will be back on his feet soon, and would be stronger.

Sachin Tendulkar, whose cricketing career spanned close to two and half decades, was stricken with multiple injuries during his illustrious career. He remained fit and injury free for the first decade in international cricket but was a tough time thereafter.

The first time that he was sidelined due to an injury was in 1999. It forced Sachin out of the tri-series featuring Pakistan and Sri Lanka at home and the tri-series featuring Pakistan and England at Sharjah.

It was 12 years before he missed his first Test match when he missed a game against Zimbabwe in 2001 because of a toe injury. Unfortunately, the coming years saw him being marred by a series of injuries. His most serious injury was the tennis elbow injury which afflicted him in 2006. It is said that his condition was so worse that he could barely lift a cup of tea at that time.
