Saeed Ajmal, the off-spinner from Pakistan, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Monday post the domestic T20 cup. The veteran was once a sensation in the spin bowling department a few years ago. But he lost his Midas touch with the ball when he came back with a remodelled action a couple of years ago. However, the bowler has revealed that he was hurt deeply with the ban his bowling and indirectly has questioned the process of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Ajmal was the number 1 bowler in the limited overs format (ODI and T20) and had also hogged the limelight in whites. He had picked 178 wickets in just 35 Test matches which included 10 five-wicket hauls and four 10-wicket hauls in the match. He is currently participating in the National T20 Cup and will hang his boots after the tournament. The spin-wizard could never comeback and weave his magic with the new action which left him with no option but to bid adieu to the game.

The process was only for me and Hafeez

Saeed Ajmal was highly satisfied with the way his international career panned out but has expressed that he was frustrated and hurt with the ban on his action. He also slammed the process and accused that only he and Mohammad Hafeez were targeted. Recently, Hafeez was also reported for the suspected bowling action during the series against Sri Lanka. The veteran, like Ajmal, has also been booked twice now and it remains to be seen if he comes out clean.

“I am quitting all forms of cricket after the current National T20. It’s been a highly satisfying career. The ban on my action left me frustrated and hurt. It seems the process was only for me and (Mohd) Hafeez, all other bowlers with questionable actions are still playing,” he told AFP on Tuesday. The 40-year-old had an excellent career and last represented Pakistan in a T20I against Bangladesh in April 2015 and since then was ignored for the national side due to lack of good performances.
