Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, the world has been compelled to come to a standstill. Majority of sporting events– from the Tokyo Olympics to the Indian Premier League have either been called off or postponed in the wake of the pandemic. More than 7 lakh confirmed cases have been reported in the world along with around 37000 deaths.

Amid the state of a lockdown in most countries, a plethora of cricketers are currently spending their time across social media. From fan interactions, live video sessions and Question & Answer sessions, cricketers are resorting to every available method to kill their idle time. Meanwhile, several cricketers have also come forward to aid in the battle against the pandemic and have contributed a hefty amount in this stern situation.

‘Please donate to support this great cause’: Sam Billings

England’s Sam Billings has also extended his support to fight the pandemic by shaving his head for a fundraiser. Shaving my head for the amazing NHS. Please donate to the page below to support this great cause,” wrote Billings on his Twitter. He also urged everyone to donate and be part of a great cause.

Kent Cricket shared Billings’ tweet along with his new look post the headshave with the link through which one can donate the desired amount to charity.

This move of Sam Billings was appreciated by many fans on Twitter and Australia’s David Warner also joined the list by shaving his head in support of those working amid the crisis for saving lives.

“Been nominated to shave my head in support of those working on the frontline #Covid-19 here is a time-lapse. I think my debut was the last time I recall I’ve done this. Like it or not??” wrote Warner on his Twitter along with sharing picture of his new look.

At a time when the whole world is put to a halt by the coronavirus debacle, many cricketers including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Ajinkya Rahane have come forward and donated in Relief Funds. One of the prominent cricket bodies BCCI also came forward and donated a hefty sum of INR 51 crores in the wake of the pandemic. Considering the current situation in the world, the possibility of witnessing cricketing action of IPL 2020 looks bleak.
