Although Rajasthan Royals haven’t been on a roll in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Sanju Samson has made his bat talk consistently. He has scored runs in difficult circumstances and impressed one and all. Samson is also one of the top contenders to win the orange cap this season, having scored 433 runs in his first 10 outings.

With Samson delivering regularly, former India batsman WV Raman feels Rahul Dravid would be delighted. Samson, who made his IPL debut under Dravid’s captaincy in 2012, is known to share a great bond with the former Indian captain. Dravid has worked with Samson in the India A team and also with the senior side during India’s tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year. Although the right-handed batsman couldn’t do much in the Island nation, he has been phenomenal in IPL 2021.

Rahul Dravid has a lot of faith in Sanju Samson: WV Raman

Hence, Raman reckons Dravid would be pleased. “#RahulDravid will be happy to see @IamSanjuSamson getting runs and making it look easy. The legend has a lot of faith in the young man…” Raman had tweeted after RR’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.\

Although Samson has been showcasing glimpses of his abilities over the years, scoring consistently has been an issue for him. He tends to go on a lean patch after playing a jaw-dropping knock. Owing to the same, he hasn’t been a regular face in India’s white-ball team and will also miss the T20 World Cup next month. Nevertheless, it seems like Samson has finally identified his abilities and that is evident in his performances.

The wicketkeeper-batter smashed 70 and 82 in RR’s last two matches against Delhi Capitals respectively. Although lack of contribution from other players meant the Men in Pink lost both games, Samson impressed one and all. The Kerala-born cricketer won’t feature in the forthcoming global event. However, he’s just 26 and has a lot way to go in his career.

Samson’s current aim would be taking RR to glory in IPL 2021. However, the road won’t be easy for him as the inaugural-season champions have lost six of their first 10 games. This means one more defeat might be enough to knock them out of the playoff race. Hence, the Rajasthan-based outfit need to unleash their A-game.
