The Saurashtra Premier League (SPL) couldn’t have asked for a better start to its journey. The first ever season went all the way down to the final over of the final group game to see who enters the final and eventually, the Zalawad Royals edged out Kutch Warriors to find a place in the final on Wednesday against the Sorath Lions.

Both Lions and the Royals registered three wins in their respective four matches. The experience of Cheteshwar Pujara and Sheldon Jackson has come in very handy for Zalawad in the last couple of games and we might once again see the duo getting some crucial runs. They will be a bit tired with Tuesday’s thriller of a contest, but they will be a threat to reckon with.

Sorath Lions had a good amount of time to rest when compared to their opponents but as history suggests, not all the time these extra breaks have created a clear edge for one side. Skippers of both sides will be wanting to bat first in a pressure game and put the runs on the board.

Pitch and weather report

Not a lot of runs can be scored on this deck after it saw so many games in the last week or so. It has gotten slower and a low-scoring finale could be on cards at Rajkot. The weather will remain similar to what it did in the last two or three days and since there will not be a lot of wind flowing around, it might get difficult for fast bowlers to find lateral movement.

Himaya Barad has been their highest-run scorer this season and skipper Sagar Jogiyani will make him bat as many deliveries as possible at the top. Chirag Jani, Divyaraj Chauhan and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja will be handy in the middle order. Their bowling has been heavily dependent on Jadeja and Chirag Jani this season and they need the likes of Chetan Sakariya and Bhavyesh Donga to take more responsibility.
