Asia Cup 2018 is the start of a new season for quite a few teams and definitely the biggest ODI event of the year. It seems to have also triggered the desire among the players to change their styles. Shoaib Malik recently unveiled a new look, so did Lasith Malinga and Shadab Khan. Among the three, the Pakistan spinner didn’t quite get a positive reaction from the fans, in fact, he was severely trolled.

Shadab had changed his facial hair to a goatee which has been a very popular trend for the last few months. India’s Jasprit Bumrah also maintains that. However, when the Pakistan leggie put up a post on social media with his new avatar, fans rather advised him to focus on cricket. Shadab took it quite seriously and acted upon it soon enough to go all clean.

Later when he was walking with team-mate Hassan Ali, they put up a story to show his final look. The text along with the video read- “Shadyyy once again change his style looking cute”

Some of the harsh and mean comments targeted at Shadab:

The reason why Shoaib Malik got rid of his stubble was on wife Sania Mirza’s request. She had put up a post on social media to tell her husband that the couple of them were missing Shoaib and mentioned that they want to see him back soon. Along with that Sania also told him that preferably without the stubble.

Malik responded almost instantaneously to the request and posted a video of his changed facial appearance. His caption read- “Begum jo bole woh right! This look is for you @MirzaSania and a surprise at the end for the little one. #summerlook #breakthebeard #asiacup”

Here is Malinga’s version of break the beard:
