The tables have suddenly turned for the Kolkata Knight Riders as the team, which was at the top of the table during the initial parts of IPL 12, has now failed to register a win in its last 4 matches. At one point in time, the franchise had won 4 out of its first 5 IPL games and was the table topper of the tourney. However, since then, the franchise has played 4 more games and has faced defeat in all of them. As a result, KKR is currently the 6th ranked side of the league, with four victories and 5 losses beside its name.

The team took on the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the exemplary Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Friday. The recently-concluded encounter between the two prolific teams was a run-fest where the visitors eventually got better of the opponents by 10 runs. The first innings of this high-scoring game witnessed a scintillating hundred by the RCB skipper Virat Kohli and a handy cameo by Moeen Ali which helped their team to score a mammoth total of 213 runs.

Whilst chasing this mouth-watering total in front of their home crowd, the top order of the Kolkata-based franchise collapsed brutally. Although, a blistering partnership between Nitish Rana and Andre Russell gave hopes to the team howbeit, ultimately, it was disappointing for the purple army fans as their team fell short by 10 runs in this close encounter.

Shah Rukh Khan has a message for his team

After facing the 4th defeat on a trot, Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of KKR, came up with an emotional message. The guy, in one of his tweets regarding Kolkata’s defeat, appreciated Nitish Rana and Andre Russell’s inspiring efforts and explained how the latter deserves a few victories in this season for his consistent performance hitherto. Shahrukh quoted one of KKR’s tweets and wrote, “I feel it’s only fair for KKR to do something in return for @Russell12A, like winning a few before the season ends.”
Here is the tweet:

The Kolkata Knight Riders will now face the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. The former will undoubtedly like to get back to the winning ways and ensure its chances of making it to the playoffs.
