Pakistan are currently playing a five-match One-Day International series against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The fate of the series has already been sealed as the Men in Green took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series after the comprehensive victories in the first three matches of the series. The fourth ODI at the same venue was nothing, but a mere dead rubber.

Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to bat first. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq opened the batting and the visiting team didn’t look back ever since. The duo racked up a partnership of 304 runs from 42 overs and inflicted mayhem in the opposition camp. Zaman is known for treading an attacking approach and his ferocious display of strokeplay helped him to the first ever double ton by a Pakistani batsman in ODI cricket.

The left-hander scored 210 runs in 156 balls, a knock which was carved with 24 boundaries and five humungous whacks into the stands. He opened the batting for his team and ensured that Pakistan racked up a colossal score of 399 runs in their 50 overs. He is presently the leading run-scorer of the series with 430 runs in four matches at a stupendous average of 430.

Imam-ul-Haq, his opening partner, was also stupendous and notched his third ODI ton in just his eighth match. Zaman came into limelight when he scored his maiden ton against India in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in England last year. Apart from the double century, he also scored one century and a half-century in the erstwhile three matches.

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi, the legendary Pakistani cricketer, was all praises for the unflinching opening batsman. The former all-round cricketer took to Twitter and wrote, “Brilliant performance Fakhar Zaman! You’re turning into a world-class opener. Richly deserved, champion in the making. #ZIMVPAK”
