The charity game between ICC World XI and Windies was successfully organised at the Home of Cricket on Thursday. The World Champions lived up to their reputation and thrashed their opposition by 72 runs in a one-sided encounter. The game was held at Lord’s to raise the funds in order to reconstruct the damaged Stadia in Caribbean island due to the Hurricanes last year. However, the captain of World XI Shahid Afridi has also donated a hefty amount on the behalf of his foundation for the Hurricane victims.

The 38-year-old came back from his retirement for one last time especially for this game and earned a lot of respect. He received a guard of honour from his teammates while walking out on the field as the crowd also gave him a standing ovation for all the entertainment he has provided throughout the years.

What is the amount?

Shahid Afridi took to his official Twitter handle to thank International Cricket Council (ICC) for providing him with the opportunity to play for a social cause. He also revealed that he donated a whopping amount of $ 20,000 on the behalf of his foundation Hope Not Out.

“Thank you ICC for providing me the opportunity of contributing to #CricketRelief cause. It was a real honour for me and a memory I’ll cherish for long. On behalf of my Foundation I’m making a donation 20000$ for the Hurricane victims in Caribbean. #HopeNotOut,” his tweer read. The amount is a huge one as it roughly translates to Rs 13,49,300.

As far as Afridi is concerned, it wasn’t a happy outing for him as his team lost by 72 runs and individually, he couldn’t hog the limelight as well. He conceded 34 runs in his 4 overs and scalped a solitary wicket of Andre Fletcher. He struggled with the bat scoring only 11 runs off 12 deliveries and unfortunately couldn’t entertain the crowd which was waiting to witness his mammoth sixes.
