Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistani captain’s autobiography ‘Game Changer’ has hit the stands in both Pakistan and India and has been making quite some noise about his revelations, about his relationship with a player from across the border and also presents a glimpse into his private life as well. His allegations against some former cricketers, some with whom he shared dressing room for Pakistan and some against whom he played, has made the book a good read, based on reviews.
He has taken a dig at the former captain and coach Waqar Younis as well as Gautam Gambhir, calling the former India opener negative and without a personality. It has been quite an exchange on Twitter between the two rival cricketers after Gambhir shot back at Afridi in kind. But a new revelation made by Afridi in his book comes in relation to his private life.
Afridi mentions a girl he used to talk to back in the day, who broke his heart
Shahid Afridi is an extrovert by nature and his exhilarating celebrations on the field and his witty comments have kept everyone laughing. He is the life of a party and is the center of attraction wherever he goes and, in his book, he says he used to love to party back in the 90s and on one such occasion, he talked to a girl all night in a club in Australia.
“Before I was married this girl would often phone me. Her voice was amazing. Mobile phones were newly introduced and were quite expensive then. I spent a lot to hear that girl’s voice,” Afridi wrote in his book. After months of talking on the phone, the duo decided to meet and when the two met, Afridi reveals that his heart sank and was broken into a million pieces.
The reason behind this was that the person with whom he had been talking all night long for months, wasn’t actually a girl. “The bell rang and there stood a young man holding some roses. I received the shock of my life when he said he was the same girl I’d been talking to all these months,” the cricketer writes that he was extremely embarrassed at that moment.
