Even as the Coronavirus continued to affect human life, reports surfaced on Friday that Dawood Ibrahim has been tested positive for the virus along with his wife. Rather few reports also emerged that the gangster has allegedly passed away due to the virus only for his brother Anees Ibrahim to deny the news. He cleared that his brother is fine and no one from their family has been tested for COVID-19.

However, this is not the first time that the news of Dawood Ibrahim’s passing away has turned out to be a rumour or fake. Soon after his brother denied the reports, former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi started trending on Twitter which left many scratching their heads wondering the connection between the two.

Afridi was reportedly in trouble for his comments against Dawood back in 2016 but that has nothing to do with the cricketer trending on social media now. Interestingly, Twitterverse has hilariously compared Dawood’s death news with his retirements. Shahid Afridi retired from the game on more than three occasions only to return to the international arena again.

Shahid Afridi finally retired in 2017

The 40-year-old has been trolled many times before for making several comebacks from retirements before. For the unversed, he finally hung his boots from international cricket in February 2017. However, Shahid Afridi went on to play for the ICC World XI against the West Indies in 2018 at Lord’s in a T20I and it remains the last game he played at the international level.

He played 27 Tests, 398 ODIs and 99 T20 Internationals for Pakistan scoring more than 10000 runs in his career and always had the strike-rate of more than 100 in the limited-overs formats. Afridi still plays the T20 leagues across the world and recently plied his trade for the Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) earlier this year.

As far as the ongoing Twitter trend is concerned, his name popped up alongside the WWE Wrestlemania star The Undertaker who has also made a comeback after passing away. Some hilarious memes and tweets flooded on social media on Saturday after Dawood Ibrahim’s news turned out to be a rumour.
