Shane Warne was at the cynosure of the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008. Leading the Rajasthan Royals, Warne helped them lift the title after people had written them off. That tournament highlighted the leadership skills of the most successful leg-spinner in the history of the game.
The Royals never quite lived up to the expectations post their initial success. Warne hung around the team till the fourth edition of the tournament but retired from the IPL after that season. In 73 T20s, the spin wizard has 70 wickets at 26.61. His economy rate of 7.22 was a tad high for his quality of bowling.
Lowest ebb for RR
Their stocks were dilapidated when a few of their cricketers were involved in spot-fixing in 2013. In 2015, the team was suspended for a period of two years following corruption charges on the management of the franchise. The BCCI recently announced the comeback of RR in the 2018 season.
If reports are to be believed, Shane Warne is in talks with the Royals for a coaching job. The former Royals skipper has an astute brain, which can be utilised by the franchise in grooming upcoming players. Warne, however, doused all such claims but did admit that he is in communication with the management of RR but hasn’t agreed on anything. He announced this through his Twitter account.
Not sure where the reports r coming from re coaching the Royals. I've not agreed anything but am in talks about the possibility of a role !

One of the all-time greatest bowlers
It will be interesting to see what role Warne finally opts to fulfil. Though Warne retired from international cricket in 2007 but continued to play T20 cricket till 2013 in the Big Bash League. Test cricket was his strongest forte as he finished with 708 wickets off 145 games at an average of 25.41. In ODIs, Warne picked 293 wickets from 194 games at 25.73. He was a magician who could turn the complexion of the game within a session.
