Following the rift between Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Head Coach Anil Kumble, it is almost transparent that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking for a new person to take on the huge responsibilities. For that purpose, they invited applications from interested candidates who are willing to guide the men in blue towards success.

6 applications were received which included few prominent names like former Indian opener Virender Sehwag and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s coach Tom Moody. When former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne was asked about his intentions, he said that the BCCI does not have enough money to afford him. His comment created an outrage amongst the fans.

The 47-year old legend is the owner of over 1000 International wickets. He was the captain of Rajasthan Royals, who won the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Seeing the misunderstanding and the aftermath of his comment, Warne decided to make his point clear. According to the Victoria-born legend, he was in an elevator when he was asked the question.

Warne used his official Twitter handle to justify himself. He tweeted “Re Indian coaching position. I was in a lift & was asked if I would put my hat in the ring I said “India can’t afford me” tongue in cheek !”

Warne will not work with Virat Kohli

Reports suggested that Warne is willing to work with the 28-year old talisman skipper Virat Kohli. But the leggie has denied all reports and claimed that it is an instance of disappointing journalism. “Ps re Virat Kohli & I would work well together as a quote, this is totally made up. I never said that to anyone, very disappointing journalism,” wrote the captain of Warne’s Warriors. After the tweet, it is clear that the cricketer turned commentator will not be seen working with Virat Kohli.
