The former Australian cricketer and legendary spinner Shane Warne likes attacking performances more than defensive ones in cricket. Especially in limited overs, he doesn’t prefer bowlers to be defensive. Moreover, wrist spinners have dominated the limited-overs scene over the past few years.

And just in the international scene, these bowlers have also rocked the T20 leagues like the cash-rich IPL, BBL and even the Super Smash in New ZealandThe ex Aussie spinner, who has 700 Test wickets to his name, reckons that it’s always an advantage to have a healthy wrist spinner in your team.

“If you get a good wrist spinner, they are always going to get picked as they will always take wickets. They might go for a few more runs than someone else but they will always pick wickets. ODI cricket or even T20 is all about taking wickets in the middle overs and it is generally spin,” Warne was quoted as saying in India Today.

Warne, who is all for the results and not the input says, “They are very different from each other but they get the job done. And one thing that they all do. They attack. They don’t defend and they don’t mind being hit for runs. So I am looking forward to watching these three guys going against each other in the World Cup and watching them confuse batsmen which I like to see.”

Those three are the best three going around

The legendary Shane Warne believes that wrist spinners have dominated the white ball space primarily due to their wicket-taking ability and the fact that they are ‘not at all scared of getting hit’. Warne further refused to agree that finger spinners aren’t relevant in white-ball cricket anymore.

When asked about his favourite spinners in white ball cricket, the brand ambassador of the Rajasthan Royals franchise, said: “The top three who I like watching and certainly I believe has an influence on (ODI/T20) games are Rashid Khan, Yasir Shah and Kuldeep Yadav. Those three are the best three going around at the moment and I really enjoy them watching the most.”
