Shaun Marsh, the 32-year old left-handed batsman has been named in Australia’s 15-man squad on Tuesday, despite being injured and missing out matches in this ongoing edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Marsh believes that the series against Sri Lanka will be a tough tour for Australia, regardless of the absence of the recently retired Sri Lankan legends Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene. “Sri Lanka will be really tough in their home conditions,” he said. “It will be a really good challenge for us. But if we play to our potential and keep playing how we have played the last six months then we are confident. We will have to play some really good cricket over there.”

Marsh said that he would completely overcome his back injury by the time the series against Sri Lanka commences. “My back’s getting better. I wouldn’t say it’s 100 percent yet, but I’ve got a bit of time up my sleeve now to get it right,”

“It’s just one of those things. I’ve been really good over the last couple of years with my injuries. My body’s fine. I’ve had a little hiccup over the last few weeks, but I’ll be ready to go by July,” he added.

Some eyebrows were raised when Nathan Coulter-Nile, who had struggled to make an impact in the World T20 earlier this year was included in the Australian squad. But Marsh backed saying that his reverse swing will come in handy in those conditions of the sub-continent. “Over there reverse swing will probably come into play at some stage, and he’s one of the best at it,” Marsh said. “He has done well whenever he has played for Australia, I think if he gets an opportunity he will do well.”
