The Coronavirus pandemic has made the cricketers resort to social media more than ever. Instagram Live, especially, has become a medium for the players to connect and in the process, they also give their fans, moments to cherish. Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan has taken a liking to it as he has been interviewing top players of the country during this lockdown.
After going live with Suresh Raina recently, he got hold of the Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan on Wednesday for a friendly chat. No wonder, Irfan also tried to catch the Delhi cricketer off guard with his tricky questions. But Dhawan ,being the funny guy he is, came up with equally good answers.
During the chat, when asked to name the toughest bowler he has faced so far in his career, the southpaw quickly mentioned Australia’s pace bowler Mitchell Starc. The left-arm seamer has, at times, troubled Dhawan. Rather the left-hander has got out to him on four occasions (thrice in ODIs and once in T20Is) so far in this career.
Shikhar Dhawan picks Virat Kohli as best Indian batsman currently
Shikhar Dhawan also picked Virat Kohli as the best Indian batsman currently which is not surprising given the way the latter has been batting across all the formats over the last few years. Moreover, the duo has also won many matches for India with the partnerships between them especially in the 50-over format.
When it came to picking his favourite captain, the 34-year-old went with MS Dhoni ahead of Kohli which wasn’t a surprise either. Dhawan made his debut across all formats under the veteran and had scored a massive century on his Test debut in Mohali against Australia.
Shikhar Dhawan spilled some interesting secrets from the dressing room as well stating that his opening partner Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami are always chilled and relaxed in the team. The man himself is also one of them with always a smile on his face. He picked Jasprit Bumrah as quite and the most serious person in the Indian team.
