The former West Indian legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul has signed a new deal with the county team Lancashire for the next season. He played the last season with the same team and contributed wonderfully for their cause and it seems the team management has awarded him for his efforts. However, the experienced left-hander would love to continue in the same vein of form and continue playing the sport which he loves.

Chanderpaul amassed 831 runs at an amazing average of 51.93 with three centuries and a single half-century. His highest score of 182 proved that he can still play long innings in the fag end of his career. He has also featured in 164 Tests for West Indies and has accumulated 11867 runs at an average of 51.37 with record 30 centuries to his name. The class was always there in his batting but unfortunately, he was dropped despite performing decently by West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

I’ve really enjoyed playing

Shivnarine Chanderpaul was extremely excited to continue his stint with Lancashire and was happy to sign a new deal with them. He also praised the young cricketers who are coming through the club and is looking forward to mentoring them in the near future. “The Club is extremely ambitious and there is a group of hugely talented young cricketers in the squad. I’ve really enjoyed playing my part both on the field scoring as many runs as possible, but also as a mentor to some of our younger players,” he told the official website of the club.

“Hopefully I can continue to pass on some of my knowledge and experience to them,” the 43-year-old added. Lancashire finished second in the points table in Division One in the last season and the Guyanese left-hander played a crucial role in it. Though they would like to go one step next year and top the charts.
