SH*T News: After T10 League, O1 League to be launched soon

The T10 league which has been launched recently in the United Arab Emirates has been attracting a lot of attention from the viewers and now there is some more good news for the cricketing fraternity as our SH*T News sources have reported that another exciting tournament named as “O1 league” is on the horizon.

As the name suggests, O1 league will have matches of one over each for the two teams participating. It’s the first league of its kind and is thus expected to take the cricket world by storm. If everything goes as per the plan, the league will get underway towards the end of this year in Qatar, Doha.

All the details regarding the O1 League were revealed earlier today in a press conference addressed by the chairman of the organizing committee, Mr Farhan Qureshi.

Here are the details

Playing conditions of the matches

  • 6 bowlers will bowl a spell of 1 ball each
  • The power-play will be 2 balls
  • There will be two strategic time-outs of 25 seconds each in both innings
  • Each innings will have to be completed within 7 minutes
  • There will be a break of 3 minutes between the innings
  • If the scores of the two teams are tied, there will be a “Super Ball”

Format of the tournament

  • The tournament will be over within 8 hours
  • The duration of each game will be 20 minutes
  • There will be 6 teams participating in the tournament
  • All the 6 teams will play each other once in a Round-Robin format
  • The Round-Robin stage will be done in 5 hours with 15 games taking a total of 300 minutes
  • The Round-Robin stage will be followed by a 30-minute break before the knockouts
  • The knockout stage will be done in an hour with 3 games taking a total of 60 minutes
  • The knockout stage will be followed by another 40-minute break before the grand finale
  • In case, the final is interrupted by rain, there is a reserve time of 40 minutes

Based on current form and past reputation, 6 icon players have been shortlisted for the tournament out of which each team can pick one.

The icon players are-

  • Shahid Afridi (Reputation over the years)
  • Glenn Maxwell (Reputation over the years)
  • Dwayne Smith (Reputation plus Current Form)
  • Suresh Raina (Current Form)
  • Umar Akmal (Evergreen 1-ball player)
  • Thisara Perera (Evergreen 1-ball player)

“We were looking for players who give their best only when they have to play one or two deliveries, so we came up with these legendary names. Hopefully they will make a difference for their teams like they always do.” Mr Farhan said in a positive tone before signing off.
