As teams prepare themselves for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season, Sikkim made a major announcement. In the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy, Sikkim had a miserable outing as they ended up finishing at the bottom of the league table. However, for the Ranji Trophy, they’re leaving no stone unturned in their preparations.

Ahead of the domestic season, the Sikkim Cricket Association requested BCCI to grant them three outstation players. Now according to the latest reports from Sportstar, it appears like the permission has been granted by the BCCI. The likes of Bipul Sharma, Ishwar Chaudhary and Milind Kumar have been roped in the squad.

Experienced players will help the team

The trio has established themselves in the past and will be playing as professional guest players for Sikkim. A top official from the Sikkim Cricket Association stated, “We were initially thinking of relying on home talents but we have now realized that bringing three professional players will actually help our boys.”

All-rounder Bipul is also popular for his exploits in the IPL for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Himachal Pradesh player has featured in 42 first-class games and 82 List A fixtures. Hence, he has enough experience to guide the youngsters in the Sikkim setup. His first- class record is splendid with a batting average of 43.02 and a bowling average of 29.

On the other hand, Ishwar Chaudhary has been a part of the Gujarat team for a significant period. He also featured in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad a few years ago. He boasts of 90 wickets in first-class cricket. Milind Kumar comes from Delhi having featured in 29 FC games. He was also picked by Delhi Daredevils in the 2014 season.

Hence, the inclusion of these players is going to be tremendous for Sikkim’s inexperienced unit. Their Ranji Trophy campaign is supposed to kick off from the 1st of November. They will be facing Manipur in Round 1 of the Plate Group. It will be interesting to see whether the influence of these three outstation players instils confidence in the squad.
