Former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist witnessed the true power of the social media circuit when he appealed to the Twitterati to find his wife’s precious watch. Gilchrist went for a holiday with his wife Mel and 4 daughters to the south-west town of Dunsborough. His daughters wanted to go for a sprint along with heir mother, and that’s when Mel left the watch gifted by Gilchrist on the ground. However, she forgot to collect it back on return.

The explosive batter didn’t waste much time and put up a post on his Twitter account, appealing to the public of Dunsborough to find the missing watch. One of the locals named Amy Mundy found the missing piece and put up a post on Facebook, Gilchrist is not there on FB, but a screenshot from one of his fans helped the case.

Followers flooded with response

Many of his fans and followers actively tweeted back and interestingly many of the Indians were seen actively participating in the search ‘online’. He finally found the watch and thanked the finder by gifting a bottle of Champagne.

“I reckon about five hours went by and I didn’t see anything coming back aside from a lot of people saying ‘we’d love to be there to help look for it’ but eventually someone messaged through a picture of a Facebook posting by the lady Amy. They’re very community minded in Dunsborough and before I knew it I had her phone number and I gave her a call and we went over there this morning and dropped off a nice bottle of champagne. It was actually her daughter Maggie, who’s 12, who found it. So we gave the magpie a little bit of a reward, a little bit of pocket money to buy something nice for the holidays.”
