India's cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, showered fans and even police officers with love as he posed for selfies and photographs upon his arrival in Mumbai after a triumphant Asia Cup 2023 campaign.
The Asia Cup final was a one-sided affair, with India bundling out Sri Lanka for a mere 50 runs in 15.2 overs, thanks to a remarkable spell by Mohammed Siraj, who took six wickets for just 21 runs. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya also played a crucial role, taking three wickets and further solidifying India's victory.
After leading the Indian cricket team to a convincing 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final, Rohit Sharma's humility shone through as he came out from his Mercedes at Kalina airport, taking time to connect with the crowd that had gathered to celebrate their heroes.

For Rohit Sharma, this marked his second Asia Cup victory as captain, having previously led India to glory in 2018. In the recent tournament, he showcased his prowess with the bat, accumulating 194 runs in five innings, including three consecutive half-centuries against Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Reflecting on the win, Rohit lauded team's bowlers for their clinical performance, emphasizing the mental strength displayed by the players in the high-pressure final. He expressed his anticipation for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia and the 2023 ODI World Cup.
"Yeah was a great performance. To come out and play like that in the final shows the mental character. Great start with the ball and a clinical finish with the bat. Such a performance we will cherish for a long time. We did everything we could've achieved as a team in this tournament,” he said.
“Look forward to the series that is coming up in India, and then the World Cup. The way Hardik and Ishan batted in that pressure situation against Pakistan, and then KL and Virat got hundreds. The way Gill has been batting. Guys have stood up at various stages,” he added.
