In a highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023, India faced off against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Saturday, September 2. It was a match filled with excitement and unexpected twists but was unfortunately abandoned due to heavy rain.

Opting to bat first, India got off to a shaky start with the early departure of Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (4), courtesy of Shaheen Afridi's brilliance with the new ball. With India struggling at 66/4, the dynamic duo of Hardik Pandya (87) and Ishan Kishan (82) took centre stage. Their remarkable 138-run partnership resurrected the innings and steered India toward a competitive total.

However, just as India appeared set to cross the 300-run mark, Pakistan's death bowling prowess came into play, restricting India to a respectable score of 266.

As the teams geared up for the second innings, heavy rain disrupted play, ultimately leading to the match's abandonment. Both teams walked away with a point each in this rain-affected encounter.
