The second edition of the WPL (Women’s Premier League) is all set to begin on Friday, February 23, and ahead of the season opener of the marquee tournament, the WPL took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share an enthralling promo ahead of the season.
The promo saw several Indian stars from the five franchises featured in the promo. The likes of Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and many more stars were featured in the promo. Apart from cricketers, popular social media influencer Anushka Sen also featured in the video to promote the beginning of women's cricketing extravaganza.
“Nahi Mahalon Ki Rani, Hai Jhansi Ki Queens Hum. Welcome to #TATAWPL, ye hai ‘Cricket ka Queendom'” the WPL captioned the tweet. The caption means that the women cricketers aren't like any other princess living in huge palaces, but they are valiant fighters like the Queen of Jhansi, an Indian warrior from the past.

Delhi Capitals-Mumbai Indians kick off WPL 2024
Speaking of the WPL 2024, the marquee tournament is all set to kick off on February 23 and the season opener of the competition will be played between the maiden season’s finalists, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. Both sides will face off at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and just like the inaugural season, both teams will be keen on putting in good performances, getting off to a flying start to the second edition of the tournament.
It is worth noting that Delhi Capitals finished in first place in the WPL 2023 standings, winning six out of the eight games that they played in. The side finished ahead of Mumbai Indians on net run rate. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians women finished in second place but went onto the knockout stages and put in a performance to remember.
Defeating third place Gujarat Giants in the eliminator, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side once again faced off against Meg Lanning Delhi Capitals in the summit clash of the tournament, where they managed to register a comfortable win, lifting the very first WPL title.
