Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has criticised the Delhi Capitals (DC) for their approach after being knocked out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. DC were crushed by the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) by 59 runs at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 21.

The former off-spinner felt that the Delhi-based franchise has been only learning over the past 18 years and not been focusing on winning the tournament. The 44-year-old denounced DC's auction strategy and insisted that the franchise should instead focus on the missing links for the next season.

“There's a famous dialogue going on right now. Either we win, or we learn. There's only learning for them, no winning. Add one more year of learning here. They have to focus on where they missed out. They didn't select the right players in the auction. They had such good players in the middle order that they could have chosen but didn't. They didn't shop well in the auction,” said Harbhajan on Star Sports.

Speaking of the match, MI in the first innings posted 180 on the board, courtesy an excellent batting display from Suryakumar Yadav (73* off 43) and late fireworks from Naman Dhir (24* off 8). In the chase, DC were tumbled out for 121 in 18.2 overs and gave away all their wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner each picked three wickets bowling very miserly spells.

With the result, DC lost the playoffs race and MI cemented their spot as the fourth team, joining Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025. Hardik Pandya-led team has one more fixture in the league stage against PBKS and will aim to win to finish on a high note.
